10th grade is a major turning point. The path you choose from here will form the foundation of your future career. Broadly speaking, after 10th grade, you have the option of three main streams and some professional courses.
Let’s understand these in simple language:
1. Science Stream – If you’re interested in technology, the medical field, engineering, or scientific research, this stream is for you. The studies are a little more rigorous, but the career options are the most diverse. It consists of two main groups:
- PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Maths)
- PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) Note: You can also take PCMB (Maths + Bio) if you want to keep both paths open, but it may be a bit difficult.
2. Commerce Stream – If you enjoy understanding business, money management, banking, and finance, commerce is the best option.
Who is it for: Those whose mind is sharp in calculations and management.
3. Arts / Humanities Stream – Earlier, people thought that arts was only taken by those who were weak in studies, but now that is not the case at all. If you want to go into the Civil Services (IAS/IPS), Law, or creative fields, this is the most powerful stream.
4. Diploma and Vocational Courses (Job-Ready Courses) – If you don’t want to go through the lengthy 11th-12th grade studies and want to get a job quickly or learn a technical skill: Polytechnic Diploma, ITI(Industrial Training Institutes)
